Cort Guitars, remaining committed to supporting music education and promotion, awarded three Cort Guitars to the winning band and recipient of the prestigious John Lennon Talent Award.
The winning band, Shenaniganz, hail from Bavaria, and were subjected to plenty of tests to determine their worthyness. The competition, which lasts almost an entire year, began with over 1000 bands. This glut of talent was narrowed down by judges in a similar fashion to Fox’s American Idol, leaving only 25. After those 25 are narrowed down to 11 by judging full performances, the remaining artists take a crash course in the music industry, learning everything they can about songwriting, stage performance, music business and law, and musicianship. During that process, the number of bands are dwindled to a lonely four.
Here’s where the contest gets interesting. Each band, including Shenaniganz, had to book and promote their own tour. At the end of this DIY tour, each band is judged by the audience and judges, with the winner receiving the John Lennon Talent Award.
To the prize package, Cort Guitars added the Cort Matthias Jabs Signature model Garage 2, featuring the Scorpion guitarists favorite Scorpu pickups, coil tap switch, a two way, full force pickup switch and Graph Tech Tusq nut; a custom finished Cort acoustic guitar and a fully customized Cort M520 electric guitar with custom paint, mahogany body and neck, carved top and Tone Pros bridge and tailpiece.
After winning, Daniel Rehbein of Shenaniganz said, “This is the best prize a band can win. Thanks to everyone at Cort Guitars for the wonderful instruments. The quality and versatility of the guitars will help us tremendously on the road and in the studio. The band has improved tremendously during our time with JLTA. We have become a better, different band: Shenaniganz 2.0!”
