U2 to Sell 360° Tour ‘Claws’

U2 will perform their final 360° Tour show on July 30, but the band’s famously high-tech stage structure, “The Claw,” will live on. As reported by Billboard.com, U2’s management plans to sell three of the four alien-like behemoths, which will then be installed as permanent venues.

“It’s certainly our intention to see these things recycled into permanent and usable ventures,” U2 tour director Craig Evans told Billboard.biz. “It represents too great an engineering feat to just use for [the tour] and then put away in a warehouse somewhere.”

Evans went on to say U2 is in discussion with potential buyers, although he declined to provide specific names. Most of the ideas, he said, involve turning the “claws” into full interior pavilions and amphitheaters.

“Having been part of the biggest tour of all time, they’re pretty well tried and tested,” he said. “They can carry weights no other structure can consider.”
